Recruiting Materials          

During official or unofficial visits 

  1. Game programs, which may not include posters and may not be mailed
  2. One student-athlete handbook, printed in one color throughout.

 

     Once a prospect signs a NLI or has been accepted for enrollment:

  1. Information pertaining to orientation, conditioning, practice activities (playbooks), and academics
  2. One student-athlete handbook which is to be printed in one color through out

 

Compliance Tips:

  1. Create a system to make sure recruiting materials aren't provided too early.
  2. Keep track of what you sent, when you sent it, and to whom it was sent to.
  3. Questionnaires may not cantain recruiting material, such as a list of reason why prospect should attend an institution
  4. Notes may not be passed to a prospect via a third party, including the prospect's coach, at this site of the prospect's practice or competition.
  5. Highlight films or videotapes may be shown but may not be provided to a prospect or their coach.
  6. A violation of a rule pertaining to printed and video/adio recruiting material does not affect a prospect's eligibility.
  7. It is permissible for an institution's coaching staff member to engage in face-to-face contact with a prospect via video conference.

For a prospects coach/school only

An institution hosting an NCAA or conference championship may send a poster promoting the championship to a high school coach and/or his or her educational institution, however the poster may not be sent to a prospect.

Prior to September 1st of the beginning of the prospect's junior year of high school: 

  1. Camp brochures (relating to camp events and activities)
  2. Questionnaires
  3. NCAA educational information
  4. Correspondence, which is limited to:
    Institutional stationary including note and business cards
    Attachments to correspondence
    Blank, U.S. Postal Service-issued postcards
    Faxes and E-mail
  5. Either a recruiting guide or a media guide in each sport the institution sponsors
    Official academic, admissions, and student services publication.
  6. One wallet-sized playing schedule card per sport.

Division I and II institution may not provide recruiting materials to a prospect  until Sept. 1st at the beginning of the prospect's junior year in high school

Use of Technology in Recruiting Process 

All current NCAA legislation, official interpretations, staff interpretations and Proposals Currently in the legislative proposals related to the use of technology in the recruiting process be made available through NCAA Online, categorized as above listings.

Division I and II, facsimiles and other electronically transmitted correspondence shall not be considered telephone calls.
