IPFW Overpowers Lakers In Three Games

Fort Wayne, Ind. - Mercyhurst freshman Jonathan Gurr had a match-high 13 kills but the men's volleyball team lost to defending national runner-up IPFW in three games Friday, 30-16, 30-21, 30-24. Gurr also tied for the team-high with five digs but IPFW hit over .340 in all three games to sweep past Mercyhurst. Tim Wagner added nine kills and Dave Newman had eight for the Lakers. IPFW had three players with at least 10 kills and hit .425 for the match. Mercyhurst had just 3.0 team blocks for the match despite averaging almost that many per game coming into the contest. IPFW improves to 11-11 on the season and 4-6 in MIVA play as Mercyhurst falls to 5-18 overall and 1-10 in conference. The Lakers will close out the regular season April 12 at Ohio State at 7 p.m. |
