On December 8, 1991, the Mercyhurst Ice Center opened for business. The Lakers' first game in the new arena was against RIT.
After the dedication by college president Dr. William P. Garvey and Athletic Director Pete Russo, the game went underway. Unfortunately, the Lakers lost 5-4.
